END OF A POLICEMAN'S ROMANCE.
Quite a sensation was caused in Xew York when it was announced that Airs, Giulia Morosiiii Werner, daughter of an immensely rich banker, is suing for Ihe annulment of liver romantic marriage to Arthur Werner, a stalwart policeman, who saved her life by slopping a runaway horse. The gallantry of the policeman was- followed by a courtship of the kind the American public love. lie resigned, from the J'olice Force, obtained a divorce from his wile, and married the hviress, in whose magnificent bouse at liiveniaie. Xew York, the couple have lived for the hist four years. .Several days ago Werner bade farewell to his wife in the usual way and went to Xew York, lie ■returned'in (lie evening to lind the drive gates barred against him ami .he estate strongly patrolled by a force of 30 private detectives. One of tiliv detectivca handed 'him a letter from bis wife forbidding him ever to return to her. Since then Werner, who proclaims utter ignorance of the origin of the trouble, has made vigorous attempts under the escort of a brigade of reporters to gain admission to his wife's mansion. Airs. Werner announces, through' her attorney, 'her intention to sue for the annulment of the marriage on the ground that Werner's divorce from his first wife was illegally obtained. She declares (says the Daily Mail) t'h'at she has discovered that during her absence Werner 'has been in (he habit of .entertaining his first wife at her bouse. This Werner vigorously denies.
