TARANAKI MOTORISTS.

ASSOCIATIO-V FORMED. At a meeting called for the purpose of forming a Motorists' Association there .were about twenty motorists present. Mr. T, C. List presided. The chairman made reference to the paucity of the attendance, remarking that the formation of an automobile association was one worthy the attention of all motorists, especially in. the face of the Motor Bill now before the House. lie welcomed several motorists who were present from Waitara. He would he glad to hear what their views were on the question of forming a Taranaki Association, or whether they intended to form an association of their own. Mr. C. E. Stead (Waitara) thanked the chairman for his welcome. He explained that in view of the tolls which the Clifton County Council proposed to impose, Waitara motorists had resolved to form an association, but hearing that, a similar movement was on foot in Nevtf Plymouth, they had decided to join with it, and were in favor of the formation of an association for Taranaki. Some discussion topk place the question as to whether it would be possible to work one association for Taranaki, or whether it would be better to have separate branches. Eventually-thu | meeting decided to form the "Taranaki Automobile Association." ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. H. Okey, M.P.; president, Mr„ T. C. List; vice-presidents, Messrs 0. H. Burgess and J. W. Foreman (Waitara) Mr. C. Grover; treasurer, Mr. E. Gilmour; captain, Mr. 0. N. Firth; vice-captain, Mr. C. 8. Stead; auditor, Mr, 11. Stoclcer; committee, Messrs S. Teed, K. W. Griffiths, D. J. White, R. Pcpperell, A."Jones. D. R. George and H. J. Brookman. GENERAL. The annual subscription was fixed At £1 Is for car-owners and 10s 6d for cycle-owners. \ It was suggested that arrangements should be made for runs to the Mountain House and other points of interest. The committee is to meet next Friday evening to consider rules, etc,
