I NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY IUiPOIiT. On Friday 10th inst., at my Kapoiigu jards, I had a good entry of cattle, all elates meeting with good competition and selling at the following prices:— ieaning lieifers, good, £1 15a to £2 !)- bd, smaller, £1 as to £1 12s fid; yearling steers,£. 2s to £2 10s; empty 20-month heifers, £> l, s 6d; Jersey 2-year in-calf 1 23 (xi ; fat cows, £0 to £6 13s; forward cows, £2 3s to £5 15s. On the same day at Nornmnbv, in conjunction with the Loan Company, I conducted Mr. 11. J. Lien's Sa -vi' i w ? s g° oli attendance, with brisk bidding The cows were a very choice :ot, and in splendid condition, the herd of 82 grade Jersey cows averaging £l4 3s fid. The top price for the day, £3l, was paid far a Jersey cow At Urenui on Monday 13th, I had a I fuJ yarding of all classes of cattle, with ! several lme 8 of ilreep. The attendance I was good, with enquiry for all lines consequently nearly every line was sold at the hammer. The in-calif heifers advertised on account of Mr. W. Birdlinsr \\ere all cleared a-.s- follows:—Springim* heifers, £o 17s (id; Jersey 2-year in-caff heifers, bit small, £5 2s; Ayrshire inea.f 2-year heifers, £5 10s; 2 and 2'/,year Shorthorn heifers, rough, £5 ssempty 18-montfes heifers, £3 ss; forward empty lieifers, £5. The dairy cows entered on account of Mr. L. E. Coster were a very fair line, selling up to £l7 for a very choice cow, down to £5 for empty looking cows, the line averaging £J 7s fid. On account of . otWor vendors:—Yearling steers, £1 10s to £3 Is i fid; rough 2 to 2%-year steers, £4 3s to to os; small' empty heifers, £3 2s- forward cows, £5 3s to £5 12s; store cows, £4 to £4 7s; 2 and 2%-ycar in-calf heifers (badly done), £4 15s; springing heifers, £C to £fi 17s fid; dairy cows, £0 to £8; aged guaranteed cows, £3 12s fid to £3j fat heifers, £0 (is to £(i 18s; aged ewes ' in lamb, 13s 3d to 13s (id; aged wethers in poor condition, ]4s 2d; hoggets, 14s Od to l-5s 3d for fair lines. On the same day, at Tuna, for Mr. J. Tristram's clearing sale, I ihiid a fair ■ attendance, the herd of 24 cows milking a satisfactory average of £8 18s. Best cows, young and showing quality, sold up to £l3 10s, others £5 to £7 ss; three-quarter cows. £5; yearling bulls, £4; heifer, calved, . £B. At Rivcrlea on Tuesday, 14th inst.. for Mr. J. Wallace's sale, cows sold at from £fi 5s to £lO, averaging £8 8s for the line; lieifers, calved made from £fi to £8 10s; breeding sows, £5 to £7 las. On the same day, at Rahotu, I bail a fill yarding of all classes of cattle. There was a representative attendantof buyers l from al 1 parts, with brisk bidding for all lines offered, the whole yarding, with very few exceptions, being cleared at the hammer. The demand was liest for good yeaiung steer.*, big yearling heifers and emptv 20month heifers.
