The Duke of Oonnaught has telegraphed to tue Hindus aboard the Komagata Maru to preserve the peace, as the Government is fully cognisant of their I claims, and will give them every justice, but warning them that the Canadian laws must be observed. The immigraj tion authorities are now awaiting the arrival of the Rainbow, with a special force of bluejackets. The Hindus declare that they will fight to a finish. It is likely therefore that a bombardment of the Komagata Maru will be the only solution. An extraordinary deadlock has arisen. Gurdit Singh assertß that the Hindus will all die fighting rather than leave. The Japanese Government has advised its Vancouver Consul to remove the Japanese crew from the Komagata Maru.

Mr. Stevens, Federal member, ani nounced at a public meeting that he possessed proof of attempts planned against the lives of the captain of the Komagata Maru, the immigration officials and ethers, but by whom he was unable to specify at that moment. Evidently the seditionist movement was spreading. Gurdit Singh, the leader of the Komagata Maru'a Hindus, bad offered for a bribe to take all the passengers home again, but the immigration officers refused to consider the offer.
