McEwan, for tfli'e past two years manager of the Te Roti branch cheese factory of Hie Eitham company, lias been appointed manager of the Fcathersfcon cheese factory.—Argus. Writing fiom London on June 14th, the correspondent of a contemporary says that Mr. John Tieslop, of Eitham, intended to visit Scotland, Ireland, and title Continent before returning to New Zealand.
At last night's public meeting his Worship the Mayor (Mr. J. E. Wilson) was most cordially welcomed by several speakers, and congratulated on his first public appearance in . restored health. Mr. Wilson suitably responded. The Napier Borough Council 1 sit liight appointed Mr. .T. F. Wan-en, who 'lias been in charge of the Waipori Falls power station for over five years, electrical engineer for Napier, at a salary of £(>00 a year. There were nineteen application's. At the meeting of the general com mittee of the Egniont A. and P. Association on Saturday, reference was made by several members to the excellent work of Mr. R O. Treweek during the six years he had held the position of secretary of the Association. The committee voted Mr. Treweek a bonus r f £2O. and elected liini a life member of the Association. Miss .1. Tolley, M.A.. has been apI'linted science mistress at tile "New Plymouth (lir's' High School during tin? absence of Miss Cross iu England. It wa.s reported to the Board at yesterday's meeting, at which she was appointed. that her testimonials showed a brilliant seinolastie career. She will take up her duties at the beginning' of i-ext term.
