NEW ZEALAND JERSEY BREEDER'S* ASSOCIATION. N AXNUAL MEETING. Tlie annual genera-! meeting of th» Now Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association was held at Wanganui on Wednesday, Mr. W. H. Booth presiding. In moving the adoption of the report' and balance-sheet, the president congratulated the members on the excellent position of the Association. An endeavor had been made to show as clearly as possible the receipts and expenditure of the past'year, but therewere a few items that might be explained more fully. Regarding bad debts amounting to £33 this was the first writing-off since the starting of the Association. The writing-off from-the Herd Book account of £3OB also occurred for the first time. In the president's opinion, the method of fixing this Herd! Book account should be changed in the next balance-sheet, as there was littlrf sale for Herd Books after tlie year ot .issue, and the balance on hand was compaiativety worthless. The money thai! the Association bad out on mortgage, £775, was well lent. The security held for the three mortgages was vahiedf by the Government at £IOOB. Sundry debts, £sl, was a legacy left from former years. No credit was now given to any members of the Association. Tlid financial position, tlid chairman continued, was strong, and should improve yearly with the advance in the number of members. In hi* opinion, the Association should endeavor to increase its vested funds to provide an income which in the futur« might be -used to he!p to pay for inspection. Some scheme would be undertaken by which the poorer animals, both male and female, would be eliminated. It would be urged that breeding ■on butter-fat lines would be the onljj breeding necessary, but sooner or late! those following this line would see thei* mistake. Mr. Booth said'breeding with- ■ out any reference to type, constitution oi' uddef formation, was an easy mat»ter, but it was the combination' of allround qualities that was the end of all true breeding and' commercial value* Mr. Booth favored more extensive advertising. In conclusion, the presidenl thanked the secretary and members ol the Council for their assistance to him during the past year. This help and enthusiasm bad been ,a great factor i« the Association's progress. Tlie report and Wance-sheet were received. NEW MEMBERS OF COUNCIL.
