AUCKLAND DEFEATS MAN AW ATI!. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A representative hockey match was played here to-day between the Manawatu and local tesims. The day was fine, but the ground was heavy, and the exhibition of hockey poor. The Manawatu team was very weak in the first ,spell, during which Whittaker and Mahoney scored goals for Auck'anil. The Auckland attack was poor. Maguire scored for Auckland early in the second spell, hut after that Mana./atu allowed better form, and liad tilt best of the game. Webb and I'aton scored for Manawatu from bard drives, and the visitors were still on the attack when time was called with the score: Auckland 3 goals, Manawatu 2 goals.
