At Xewtown 2 1 /; ncre-i of the. town belt were laid out for tree planting, and the children attending the school had the areas handed over to them by the City Council. The Reserves Committee, the Xfc.yor and Mayoress and others planted ecnimemora'tive trees. Mr. of the Gordon Cfitica.* Towit-Planninjr A'-'-oeiafion of Great Britain, attended. Trees were planted commemorative of Mr. and Mrs. Davidgc. A holiday was observed by the scholars and Government offices. The. eitw'iv-' have been busily engaged in tree plant'iiir during the past few years, and nearly !H1,0f!0 trees have been planted in the parks and gardens of Wellington by the Qity Council.
