A NEW PIANO.
DEPARTURE IN MECHANISM. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Paris, July 10. Two Frenchmen have invented piano wires set in vibration by an electromagnet instead of being struck by hammers. The mechanism is operated from •the usual keyboard, but instead of tie) notes dying gradually.away they maintain the volume of sound as long as the key is pressed. The effect produced j is similar to that of an organ and makes the piano, an entirely new instrument.
