6TORT OF THE BUSHRANGIWJ DAYS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, July li. The death ia reported of Mrs. Ledwidgc, aged 7G, a link with bushranging days. The bushranger Power, after escaping from Pentridge Gaol, stuck up the Ledwidge Hotel, at Humura. Ledwidge escaped, mounted on Power's horse, and went in search of the police. Power ransacked the house in search of a bag of gold dust which, with another bag eontainiug £OOO, Mrs. Ledwidge hal hidden. The bushranger twice severely beat the defenceless woman with his gun barrel, and on her refusing to disclose the hiding-place set lire to tie house three times, but Mrs. Ledwidge put it out. Eventually Power, «ftnr seeming only £2 in money and a dheque for £2O, fled, leaving his victim bleeding on the floor. ]
