TOWN BOARD. The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Monday evening. Present: Messrs Dudley (chairman) Trotter, Million, Todd and Boss. Mr Macßeynolds applied to lease Section 0, block "27. The chairman reported that he held the .section on a yearly tenancy.—The clerk to look into records and report at next meeting. The clerk laid on the table the fatuous placard: "D a railway; give us a harbor!" which he found taeked on his door. The members thought it a, foolish act on the part of a "suspect," but that it could not do anything in the matter. The Railway Department forwarded illustrations of danger signals to be erected and maintained by the local authority at railway level crossings.— It, was considered by the members that the railway should arrive first. i Mr L. H. Wilson, of Wilson's pictures, j wrote in reply to the clerk's request t for payment of hall fees, that the custom was pay quarterly; he also requested the Board to make necessary improvements in protecting patrons and picture operators from likelihood of ac-cident—-The clerk wrote that there wan no Agreement to pay hall charges at the •end of each quarter, but the Board was quite willing to agree to a quarterly payment, providing the fees were paid in advance.—The Board was willing to discuss the question of improvements, as requested by Mr Wilson, but he could not be treated differently to tho local people. The foreman reported on tho, usual routine work, and recommended gravelling bad places in front of I.oan and Mercantile Cov.'s stores, and corner of Gisborne terrace and Uavelock streets; kei&ing in frontages of Middloton Hotel and Burton's footpaths.—The work was authorised. Belli its were from the Raglan Town Hoard in reference to Town Districts being separated from County districts by Order-in-Couneil; also fro'.li Ohakune Board. Mr •!. W. Rogers requested continuation of t'lu> footpath to his residence, and was willing to pay cost of pipes and bridging.—The foreman was author- ■ ised to report the cost of the work at the next meeting. The subsidy on rates this year is £33 18s 3d. The Clerk laid on the table the ratepayers' roll. The. Clerk was authorised to have repairs to windows and doors of bait done. FARMERS' "UNION. The Opunako branch of the New Zealand Fanners' I'nion held their monthly meeting on Saturday, Mr Ceo. Loonev (chairman) presiding. There was a good attendance. The annual concert showed a credit balance, of ,C 7 Ids fid. The union passed a vote of thanks to Mr (Ira/,; and the gentlemen singers he brought from New Plymouth to assist at tho concert,. It was also decided to assist the Director of the Technical College in bis proposal to obtain a fiveacre plot to teach the practical side of agriculture, science, under duly trained teachers. The secretary was also instructed to write to the Waitara Freezing Works with reference to obtaining a visit from the company's analyst. The Egniont Coursing Club 'held its field dav on 15th, at Pungarehu.
