HOLLAND SEDITIONIST.
MUST SERVE HIS SENTENCE. Bj" Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. • A formal plea for the release of Henry Holland, now serving a sentence of imprisonment fo.j- sedition, was made by MV.\ Meyer. a member of the deputation representing the Federated Timber Workers' Union, which waited on the Premier to-day. The speaker reminded Mr. Massey that letters had come from all over the country for the release of Holland, and the Federated Timber Workers at their conference had decided to appeal to the Premier. Mr. Massev, in reply, said that Holland had 'broken the laws of the country. He was tried by a jury of his fellow-countrymen, "I can express no, opinion," added the Premier, "as to the severity of the sentence ov otherwise. It would be a very serious matter if the Government or Parliament comes to interfere "with the decisions of the court. If I committed an offence T should have to submit as well a* anyV>ody else and take the. consequences. I don't see my way and the Government does not see' its way to make any recommendation with regard to the remission of Holland's sentence.
