CAPTAIN COOK STATUE.

UNVEILED IN UIXDOX. By Cable—Pi ess Association —Copyright London, July 7. Mr. Hcrlwrt Samuel presided ■when Prince Arthur of Connanght unveiled Brock's statue of Captain Cook, on the Mall. Admiral Prince Louis ol Battenberg, Mr. Churchill, Sir George Reid anu the Hon. T. Mackenzie were present, bebesides the Agents-General, a number of prominent colonials and Rushall's cadets. The Hon. T. Mackenzie said that New Zealand's loftiest peak was an everlasting memorial to Captain Cook's work. New Zealand's external trade was now equal to the total import and expoit trade of Britain, Germany and France at the time of Captain Cook's visit. Sir George Reid eulogised Captain Cook and referred to Australia's debt to him.
