ADVANCES TO LOCAL BODIES. A great deal of uncertainty will be «leared up when the Government, on the invitation of Mr. Witty, lays on the table of the House a return showing—"(l) The total amount of commitments under the State-guaranteed. advances to local bodies on the date the Massey Government came into office; (2) the number and names of each local body to whom the commitments had been made; (3) the amount of commitments to each local body, showing the dates on which each payment has been | made, and the amounts so paid in each : ease, and (4) the total amount unpaid (if any), and the reason for such nonpayment, and the amount unpaid in each case."
