11l the challenge round of the doubles at the Wimbledon tournament ISrookcs and Wilding defeated Roper-Barrett and Dixon, who have held the championship for the past two wars, the score being 6-1. 0-1. o—7. ; 'lt was a wet day. The liist two sets of the final in the doubles'were completed in ±> infinites. Rope •-llariett was sound throughout, playing to the centre line in hopes of scoring oil' Wilding's left or Brookes' right. He poached continually in the third set. showing remarkable activity, until Dixon, who had been very patchy, brilliantly assisted to win the set. The last set was called 3—all. 4—all, -v—all, G- —all. The match was a triumph for youth and physical forie rather than science. Wilding was in superlative form, and probably did not miss more than live or >i\- chanca of scoring throughout. 11l the All Kiigland Plate Dixon defeated Harding, (i-1. o—2. Received 7. !•■•") p.m.
