NEW ZEALAND'S NAVY.
BRISTOL CRUISERS USELESS. By Cable - Press Association—Copyright London, July 6. The naval correspondent of the Pall Mall (lazctte, discussing New Zealand's request for two cruisers of the Bristol class, says they would be hardly less futile than the ships already in New Zealand waters. Zealous though Australia and New Zealand are in naval affairs, they hardly seem to grasp the first principles on which the distribution of the licet is grounded. It would be useless to pit- Bristol cruisers against, battleships and armored cruisers. New Zealanders, having given IT.M.S. New Zealand, have a right to be annoyed at the non-fulfilment of the Admiralty's promise that three battle-cruisers should be maintained on the station, but the despatch of Bristol cruisers would not fill the hiatus.
