REDUCTION OF PERMITS A, MISTAKE. Wellington. Saturday. Representatives of the Pahiatua Racing Club waited on the Premier and Minister of internal Affairs to protest against the loss of its totalisator permit as the result of the Rncinsr Commission's report. The Premier said that as far as he could see Mr, Hunter's Rill 'had a very good chance of passing into law. Referring to recent legislation. Mr. Massey .-n'u\ Parliament had shut down n number of race meetings and centred the racing in the principal centres. Anyone who looked at the totalisator returns would see tuoro was more gambling than ever. He thought a mistake had been made and Parliament would have to go back on ii.
