In the event of the society accepl'i:g this suggestion, the balance of money in Inand, between £$ and £4, be given to the society. In the discission following it was thought that such a step would create more competition, and that it would be better to have several competitors than as it has been in the past, only two, and this year iv. opposition. The young men of ou r district bad very nice social evening on Tuesday night, visitors coming from New Plymouth, Mangorei, Kaimlro, Egmont Milage and surrounding districts-, and aK were well pleased with the arrangements made by the young men for their entertainment. VTAREA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The much-needed additions to tko Ware* school residence have just bee* completed, and a very satisfactory job has licen made of the work by Mr. Moore and 'his staff. On Friday 'night, ag a ~ USe warmin & a lar S« contingent tt Vfarca residents invaded the premises, and gave a surprise party to Mrs. Barak, head mistress of the school. The house was too small to accommodate such «, crowd, and an adjournment was made to the school room, which was promptly cleared and converted into an impromptu dance room. Games and dancing, interspersed with musical items, not forgetting a beautiful supper, helped to pass a very pleasant evening. Mr. Ray Julian acted as M.C., whilst the dance musid was provided by Misses F. Corbttti, Aylward and others on the piano, and Messrs. 11, Pierson, M. Hill, juir., and H. Adlam on the accordeon. Mr. Ellis, the Taranalri Education Board's agricultural expert, gave another of his series of lectures at the hall on Friday night, but owing probably to other attractions thero was only a sparse attendnace.

The cows are starting to come In Already, and it will not be long before the call of the calf will be heard all over the district. The big ball of the season eventuates on Wednesday night, when the ladies of Warea will be the hostesses. A crowded attendance is assured, as over 200 invitations have been issued, and pleasant memories of past functions of a similar nature will ensure the majority of them being accepted.
