QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE

Wellington, Wednesday. Two suggestions regarding the New Plymouth mail train were brought under the Government's notice to-day. Mr. Okey asked whether the General Manager' of Railways had reported upon the possibility of speeding-up the mail trains between Wellington and New Plymouth, and, if it is decided to shorten the time taken between these two places, will he state when it is proposed to make such alterations Mr. Wilkinson asked the Minister of Railways to consider the question of establishing a dining-car service on the mail trains between Wanganui and New Plymouth, pointing out that owing to the possibility of speeding-up of the present service it is possible'that the present inadequate facilities for obtaining refreshments will be further curtailed, which will he detrimental to the interests of the travelling public <~Hawera Star correspondent.
