FEDERAL POLITICS.
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S EXPLANATION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, June 25.
In the Senate, the President presented Sir R. Munro-Ferguson's reply, covering his refusal of the Senators' request for the production of correspondence dealing with the dissolution. Sir R. Munro-Ferguson points out that the production of the correspondence would not only be contrary to the usual practice, but a breach of the confidential relations between the representative of the King and his constitutional Ministers.
The letter adds for the information of Senators that the statement Mt Cook made in the House covered the grounds of dissolution and also informs the Senate that, on the advice of his Ministers, he cannot comply with the request to send the six constitution amendment Bills, to another referendum.
SUPPLY BILL PASSES THE HOUSE.
Received 26, 12.5 a.m. Melbourne, June 25. The Supply Bill passed, and is now before the Senate.
