Yencken, o—2, o—o, 7—'s; Dunlop bent Robin, 7 —!>, o—2, B—2, 0—1; Froitzheim beat llopecrisp, o—2, 3 —o, (i —2, o—2.0 —2. Other winners were I". Lowe, Cerarot, Decugis', Parke, and Harding. In the doubles, Brookes and AYilding defeated Baird and' Bell, o—l, G—l.
Doiv?t defeated Tindell-Clreen, o—l.0 —1. 3—6, 3—o, o—l, Ritahie defeated Koper-Barrett, 4—o, C—l, (i—i. o—3'. Dunlop lost the first set on aipjierv ground and t-scarded his shoes and won the match in socks. The Doust-Green ma tub waSi characterised by hard driving oi: botCi sides. Doust, at the end' of the match, came to the net and amde wonderful cross volleys. A. Yencken put out 'his shoulder in l'.ii first set. A surgeon replaced it on the ground and Yencken phicliily continued, running the third set to twelve games.'
Mnr.vogordafo won in the first round. Gore beat Kingseote, 0-4, (i—3, fi 3.
