RAHOTU. (From our own Correspondent.)

f The heavy frost on Saturday emphasised the wintry nature of the weather at Rahotu, and there have been very cold showers of rain ever since.

Mr Thos. Hughson, jrir., who undcr- ' went a serious operation in the Now <Plymouth Hospital, is, we are glad to tea: - , making good progress towards recovery.

Friends will be pleased to hear that Mrs Rothery and Mrs A. Baken senr,, who have been very ill, .are on the mend.

The Palmerston Show attracted a good many of our local people, and those who went, say it was the best show held in Palmerßton.

One of our local Holstein fanciers, •Mr C. Penwarden, purchased several .head of pedigree heifers from a breeder at Palmerston. "

Mr. and Mrs. A. Williams, of Ngariki road, and Mrs P. Wilcox, have gone for a holiday t» the Auckland district. The spinsters' and bachelors' ball, to be held on the Ist July, and a tug-of-war to be held shortly, are being looked forward to with great interest.

The Church of England committee arc now on the move endeavouring to mak# their Jumble Sale and Social, to be held on the Bth July, a big success. Rahotu's only band performed at an early, hour, mi the morning of the 18th to announce the homecoming of Mr G. Dewdney and his bride. I understand the band will be in great demand this winter.

The Dairy Factory company are seriously considering the advisability of pasteurising milk for cheese-making for the coming season, also the question of opening a co-operative store at the factory.
