Dietrich, a tamer's assistant in * travelling circus, entered a cage of six lions belonging to his fiancee, Adgie Castillo. One sprang on him and knocked Mm down and the otherg attacked and partially devoured him. A powerful disinfectant spray was utilised to secare Dietrich's remains.

Emerson D. Dietrich, who was a graduate ol Cornell University, was torn to shreds by live lions whose cage he entered to feed them. The lions virtually ate him alive. Teh lions were in the freight car. While Dietrich was making a short fight for life, five cubs endeavored to escape, causing a panic t» the crowds. A keeper managed- to return them to the cage.
