An attempt by fifteen Hindus to force their way to the Komogata Maru, to gain communication with their countrymen, was frustrated by the police and immigration officials. "While Bird, the Hindu's lawyer, was atteajgting l a pacific entry upon the •gMpfcthe Hindus took the matter into
their own hands, chartered a launch and ' get out from the wharf. A few minutes later they were back in the dock, having been headed off by the immigration boat.
A squad of police took the nameß of the ringleaders and foTced them and •their followers from the water-front.

Meetings of Indians at Caxton Hall protested that the non-admission of Indians to Canada was striking at the very root of unity of the Empire, and carried a resolution suggestion the prohibition of Canadians in India.
