LABOR PARTY DISSATISFIED. ■FAVORS REDUCTION OF FOOD TAXATION.

Received 24, 9.55 p.m.

London, June 24. : Mr. Hayes Fisher moved an amendment to the Finance Bill regretting that it did not provide relief for local authorities, and that future prevision was .conditional on a new system of land "valuation for rating. The" debate was adjourned. The Labor Party has decided not to ▼ote on the Finance Bill. It is understood that the party is gravely dissatisfied with the Government for yielding to the pressure of a section of its supporters, and considers the money saved should be used to remit food taxation rather than for relieving the higher £ classes of income-tax payers. The party ►*;. is disposed to support Mr Hayes-Fisher's amendment, but for its reference to land taxation. The abandonment of the increased tax has -produced confusion among city comragiwana banks, who had already dejS3£s the -tax from the dividends and. 'ignities. They are now forced to readjust their books.
