One of tile early p,'oners of Taranaki passed away early yesterday morning in the person of Mis. Cunningham (relict of the late 'Mr. Robert Cunningham), who passed away somewhat suddenly in her 85t.1i year. The deceased lady, who was a Miss Loveridge, came out with her jr.<v. Nts in the Timandra, arriving at Xew Plymouth on February 24, 1842, 'the. same vesacl which brought the Andrews, Allans, Barriballs, < Brookings, Bishops, Cramis, Clares, Candishes, Devenishes, Flights, Gollops, Harts, Hawkes, Hookers, dolls, Jordnns, Marshes, Pellews, Sampsons, Smiths, Spurdles, Treweelcs, Veveoes, Wards and Wills, all families whose names are closely identified with the history of Taranaki. Mrs. Cunningham has lived in New Plymouth ever since, and had endeared herself to a very large circle of relatives and friends. Coming of a hardy stock, she retained wonderful vitality to the very last, though her great age had latterly naturally told upon her vitality. Nevertheless. she was about up till three or four days ago. when slie contracted a bad cold, and the end came rather unexpectedly. Her husband predeceased her about five and a-half years ago, also in his eighty-fifth year. * The deceased had a family of fourteen, nine o(jrhom .(four s<fas and five daughters) are Tiving.
