The conviction, after an appeal, has now been quashed by the Lcicestershirej Quarter Sessions, which ruled that in i this-case the father's attitude was absolutely reasonable (a Barley street throat specialist having said that the ris'k from the surgical removal of the adenoids in this case would have been greater than the benefit), so that it is now held that parents cannot be compelled to have their children operated on against their own judgment even though the all-powerful Education Committee, at its doctor's advice, orders it.
