INTIMIDATING A CHINAMAN.

Two constables were charged to-day with demanding, with menaces, money from a Chinaman, with intent to steal. Evidence was given that the constables drove in a cab in the early hours to the house of a Chinaman at Alexandria and threatened to break down thci door if they were not admitted. They stated that they were looking for two young gala, and demanded 40s, saying they would lock up the girls if the money-were not forthcoming. The Chinaman eventually gave the constables !ls. They were committed for trial.
