The steamer Majestic, carrying a crew of thirty-seven, struck the new intake tower at St. Louis, on the Mississippi river, and sank. A few men were seen banging in the rigging. An hour previously the Majestic landed a thousand telephone girl excursionists.

ONLY TWO DROWNED. New York, June 20. Final reports show that only two were drowned by the sinking of the Majeetie in the Mississippi. The majority of the sailors swam ashore. The others took to the lifeboats and drifted down the river.
