The Porte's reply to the Greek note is conciliatory and expresses readiness to examine grievances and makes coun-ter-charges of persecutions by the Greeks in Macedonia. It evades the demands for the reinstatement of Greeks and the restoration of their property. The Turkish reserves at Smyrna have been called out, and the lighthouses in the Gulf extinguished.
Turkish refugees sacked Greek shops at Brussa and sanguinary conflicts 6«cufred.
A court-martial at Smyrna sentenced 47 individuals to terms ranging from three to five years for robbing Greek emigrants.
SBRVTA'S WARNING TO TURKBT. | Constantinople, June 18. Servia's warning to Turkey that' she will he unable to remain on friendly terms in the event of a Gxaeco-Turkish conflict has calmed Turkey, who appears to desire to avoid a rupture. Germany has agreed that nominees of the embassies at Constantinople shall investigate the position of the Greeks is Asia Minor.
HARBOR ENTRANCE MINED. Received 20, 5.5 p.m. Constantinople, June 90. The entrance to Smyrna is mined, and vessels are entering only in the daytime, and with pilots. A similar decree has been issued regarding the Dardanelles.
