BLUEJACKETS PROTECTING THE
PRINCE'S PALACE.

Durazzo, June 19. Prince William insisted on the advance at all costs. The Mirdites were [thrice repulsed, and finally fled in panic, the insurgents capturing their two guns, H'hich they later used with great effect against the Government troops. The retreat caused a panic among Durazzo residents, who took refuge at the Consulates and on the seashore, hopin» to board the wraships. ° As the insurgents did not advance the panic subsided.
Five hundred British, Austrian and Italian bluejackets are protecting the palace. It is hoped the Malissori and Mirdites will regain their courage when the Mirdite chief, Prenk Bibdoda, arrives with two thousand reinforcements.

The Mirdites fled. Some who were unable to cross a bridge flung themselves into a lagoon and were drowned. Others were cut off and massacred. The insurgents stopped on the plain outside Shiak making desultory attacks. Meanwhile a panic out at Shiak, owing to the fear that the insurgents would enter.
