Is it the Trust?

MEAT FREKZIMi WORKS AT A

STANDSTILL.

AMERICAN FIRMS FORCE UP THI

PRICES.

By Cable—Press Association—Copyright

Melbourne, June 17.

The meat export trade has stagnated. A number of refrigerating works arc at a standstill and many slaughtermen are idle. The shortage of stock and the high prices of stock are the cause.

Sydney, June 17.

The Premier has reported, as the result of the investigations into the alleged operations of the meat trust in New South Wales, that it is unknown whether the trust is operating extensively in Sydney. The fact remains that a considerable portion of the output of meat is hcing purchased Ivy certain firms whose names arc usually associated with the alleged American Meat Trust. Very few Queensland cattle arc coming forward. Excitement and uncertainty exist in trade circles, which is due to a large extent to the fact that Armerican firms are becoming keen competitors for the purchase of New South Wales meat.
