MOVING PICTURE FIELD.

The J. C. Williamson management has decided to enter the moving picture field in a big way. This step lias been under contemplation forsoi|3 time. Mr. Hugh J. Ward is now in New York, where he has conferred with a group of thcaliit cat managers, who are going to film all their successful plays and exhibit them. The activity of the Williamson manngoment, it is announced, will he resliictcd at first to star films. These; they intend to show in their own theatres, utilising this class of entertainment for all vacant dates over their circuit. With films of sufficient attraction, daily matinees will be given at the Williamnon theatres in Sydney and Melbourne. Her Majesty's will be used dn Sydney and the Theatre Royal in Melbourne. ■Mr. Ward will make arrangements in New York for an operating staff, it being the intention of the Williamson directors to film a number of plays in Australia. With their extensive plant and wardrobe, this will be possible, at a minimum expense. Mr. Ward will arrive from America in June, and the organisation of the, new 'amusement department of the big firm will immediately be got under way.
