NOT UNDER MINISTERIAL CONTROL.

By Oahle—Press Association—Copyright

Received 17, 12.20 a.m. London, June 10, The Daily Chronicle urges legislation to regularise' the position of the Public Trustee, which is becoming one of the largest departments. It already had 120 millions in business investments, and may have five hundred million within twenty years; yet it is not responsible to any Minister. The Trustee holds eight and a-quarter millions in home railways, rivalling the greatest banks. His vote on such a question as the railwaymen's wages might be of national importance.
