PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
'MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary monthly meeting was held at Rahotu on Thursday. Present: Messrs Young (chairman) Cassie, Hickey, Holmes. Royalty.—The Public Trustee agent wrote in reply to the Board's enquiry that 3d per yard royalty must be paid to him, and advised the Board to make the best terms .possible with the lessee regarding surface damages. Poundkeeper.—Mr Wilcox wrote protesting against what he called an illegal act on the part'of the poundkeeper in advertising a colt impounded on the farm on the Opourapa road, to be sold at Rahotu, and then selling it on the farm, Opourapa road. He suggested going over the business again and doing it legally. The foreman was instructed to make inquiries and report to the next meeting. It was decided that the Board's paddock at the rear of the office must be kept locked except on sale days, when it can be used for a horse paddock. A committee was appointed to obtain a section in Opunake and erect a shed on it for a pipe-making depot.
I Mr Revell waited on the Board and asked that repairs be done to the road leading to his property at Warea. The Council to be written to asking that the road Tie repaired, as it was cut up so ibadly by the contractors and the crushing plant. Foreman J. P. Kennedy reported that five miles of the Ihaia road had been repaired. He anticipated that the settlers would go in for a special works rate to put the road in thorough tcpair. The Board favored this course, and suggested the clerk get necessary formalities prepared. ■■ The cost of a travelling whare will be about £32. Mr Rickard's greeted protecting fence round the Board's gravel pit at a cost of 30s. Men have beqn taken off the Warea road pending promised arrangements for payments with Mr Burgess, sawmiller. The Board empowered Mr. Cassie to make arrangements. A new culvert has been placed ,in opposite Mr Quiaig, Kina road, The Board could not see their way to make and gravel approaches to school on Kina road. Sides have been ploughed out where required on Stent and Bayly roads, Mr Muir having done the work. Upper Arawhata, Xgariki and Tepoka roads have been attended to The foreman also reported that working bullocks grazing on the road were dangerous to the travelling public, and suggested making a by-law to prohibit bullocks working on the road during the
