STRATFORD A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
A /meeting of the executive committee was held at the secretary's office on Friday evening, Mr. E. Jackson (the president) being in the chair. The matter of revising the roll of membership was left in the secretary's hands to deal with. The secretary reported having made an inspection of the buildings on the showground, and that he found considerable damage and disorder existed, most of the window fastenings having been broken and one of the bull-boxes riddled with bullet holes. The room used by the Football Club was in great disorder, and repairs were needed. He suggested that Yale locks should be placed on all doors. In the discussion which ensued, it w.as suggested that an example should be made of anyone found damaging the Association's property, and this will be carried out. On the motion of the chairman, seconded bvi Mr. D. Malone, it was decided thae the Football Club be called upon to make good the damage done to the room used by players, in accordance with the conditions on which the use of the ground was granted to the club. In future the key 19 only to be entrusted to a responsi'bie member of the club. It was also decided to place a notice board at the entrance gate, stating that any person damaging the Associations property would be nrosecuted. The question of repairs to the buildings and the cottage was referred to the grounds committee. The question of posters was discussed, but no action was taken. The chairman stated that the Poultry Association wa« desirous that the A. and P. Association should take over the affairs of the former association, the members of which were willing to give all assistance in their power relative to show matters. After some discussion, it was decided to invite a deputation of the Poultry Association to confer with the executive. The various suggestions written down in the "suggestions book" wer?. discussed and dealt with. ; The passing of accounts was postponed till the next meeting. ,
STRATFORD HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY. ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual mooting of members of the above Society was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Friday evening, Mr. AV. Besley, the president, being in the chair.
REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET.
The annual meeting of members of the above Society was held at the Borough Council Chambers on Fii'day evening, Mr. W. Besley, the president, being in the chair. REPORT AND BALANCE-SHEET. The report presented to the meeting stated that both the spring and autumn shows had attracted very creditable exhibits, which were well up to past standards. Kcgret was expressed that the autumn show had not proved a financial success, the consequence being that the balance-sheet showed a deficit of £<- Thanks were tendered to all those who had helped at both shows, especially to the ladies who had provided the refreshments. The staging committee at the autumn show were also thanked ftr their work, as were the judges, especially Mr. Westbury, who came from the Hutt at his own expense. The balance-sheet showed that the revenue amounted io £3l 10s 9d, and the expenditure £43 12s, inclusive of £5 written off for depreciation.
'The report and balance-sheet were adopted after a brief discussion.

Reader; canvassing committee, Messrs Besley and H. Masters. PROPOSED CARNIVAL.
The question of holding a carnival for the joint benefit of the Society, the Band a-nd the BeautiEying Society, was discussed, and it was resolved that tl»e Society 'heartily approve of the purpose and objects of carnival contests. Messrs Morison and Besley, together with the president, were appointed a <:ommittcc to meet delegates from the Band and the Beautifying Society and make arrangements for the carnival. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring officers, the Press, and the chairman.
THE "G.W.K." CAR. The adoption of motor cars as means of locomotion is now becoming so general, and the number of makes so large, that a purchaser may well be in a difficulty with regard to making «i choice. The latest motor-car placed on the market in Xew Zealand is the U.W.K., which has attained a very high , reputation in ■England for its comfort, speed, durability, Mil-climbing _ powers and economy in consumption of petrol. It is an attractive, business-like looking car, in the construction of wliicli strength of material and lightness have both been the main features. In a large number of competitions this car lias received the highest awards, including first prize :n the reliability trials at Brooklands, but it is as a touring ear over any kind of country that it lias attained such a high reputation and has become a huge Sav- ' orite. Being strongly built, it is exItremelv suitable for Taramiki roads. It is the'first light car that has made the trip from Stratford to the Dawson's Falls Mountain House, a test that to those who know the state of the track will readily convince them of the merits of this haiidv motor. The result exceeded all expectations, there being plenty of reserve power. Considering that the U.W.K. lias only an S-li.p. motor, the achievement was a remar.kadle one. The sole agents are Messrs McMillan and Fredric, of Stratford, who will he pleased to give all information required, and to exhibit the running power of this machine, the price'of which is remarkably low for such an "ideal motor-cur.;
