HON. HERRIES IN THE NORI'II. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wahi, Last Night. Hon. W. H. Ilerries, Minister for Railways, arrived this morning. Deputations of the Settlers' Association and Borough Council waited on him in reference to local railway requirements. The Minister promised to give the requests his attention. Later, he left for Katikati and Taiuanga, en route to Botorua.
GETTING TO GRIPS. Dunedin, Last Xight. Mr. G. W. Russell, M.F., to-niglit accepted the challenge given to hiin by the Prime Minister at Gore, in connection with the Public Trust Office, and made these charges against the lion. A. L. Herdman:—(l) That the Minister of Justice withheld from Parliament a report which Parliament had a right to see; and (2) that the Minister incorrectly denied that the report was in the possession of the Government when at that time the report was in print and ready to be laid before Parliament. The Minister had also struck out of the Bill drafted by the Public Trust Office certain clauses which were objected to fcy the Wellington Law Society.
