DISPUTED LAND DEAL.
ALLEGED MISREPRESENTATION. By Telegraph—Pvosa Association. Wellington, Thursday. Ramsay McDoiipill, of Waikato, if suing J. W. Chapman, of Waikato, in tlic Supremo Co'.n t, for £3OOO damages for alleged misrepresentations in regard to a block of lS3i) acres of swamp land betwen Hamilton and Morrinsvillc sold by defendant to plaintiff for £10,0<15. Mr. Wilford, in opening the case, said tlic land in the block contained 05 per* cent, of water. Plaintiff wai induced to buy by statements that tho land only needed plough tag to product • astonishing crops, wbcicue, counsel alleged, it was absolutely worthless, and'' was part of 10,0'JQ acres wlucl> \vor« / given away. The claim is for the recovery of ; money which Mi'Dotigall bad actually spent in trying to farm the land. Tho hearing is before the Chief Justice and a Bpecial jury of twelve: ■. :
