ANNUAL MEETING,

A meeting of the above Association was held at the close of t-110 tsohool Oom-init-toeH Conference, .Mr Smith- presiding. The chairman verbally reported: In view of the expressed dissatisfaction, of the" status of school committees it was decided to hold a meeting of delegates oi sohoo] committees' from in and around the neighbourhood of New Plymouth. This meeting was held in October last, and as a result it wis unanimously resolved to form an association of a)l committees who desired to affiliate. Immediate steps were taken to protest against various amendments that it was

proposed to make to the Education Act. These protests wore forwarded on to the Department, and as a consequence of other protests coming from other districts, the proposed amendments wore dropped for the time being. As for finance receipts amounted to a donation of <fc' and the expenditure to a little over £■»' but the incoming executive would have to arrange for a definite svstem of finance that would enable the Association to carry wit its true functions..
