Daylight Robbery
MOST DARING SYDNEY KNOWS. MOTOK-BAXDIT SECURES £6700 IN A STOLEN CAB. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 10, 8 p.m. Sydney, June 10. The most daring daylight robbery in the annals of Sydney crime occurred ftt noon. A pay-clerk drew £<5700 from the bank to pay to the Eveleigh workmen. He drove to the Wilson street entrance in a«cab, and placed the catAtbox, containing £3300, on the shoulders of a workman. Simultaneously a mo-tor-car drew up. A masked man held up the clerk at the revolver point, snatched the box, and transferred it to the car. Then he drove off. A passing cart dashed in pursuit, but i the horse collapsed, and the pureneT! was compelled to abandon the chase. | The robbers stole the car an hon» earlier from the corner of Market and Castlereagh streets. THE CASH-BOX FOUND. Received 11, 12.30 a.m. Sydney, June 10.
Startling developments are anticipated in connection with the Eveleigh robbery. The police have detained the payclerk, and the employee's and the tabman's finger-prints have been taken. The motor-car and the empty cash-box (have been found at Pyrmont.
