The Wairoa Sub-union, which j comprises portion of the Wanganui and r portion of the Taranaki territory, em- | braces Wavcrley, Wailolara, Pa tea and Alton. Its representatives put up a good fight against the Taranaki B team last year, being defeated only by a narrow margin. The Wairoa team is said to be much stronger than it was last year, whereas the Taranaki B team is certainly stronger, and, as it contains men nil anxious to prove their worthiness for inclusion in the A team, a good exhibition should result. As a curtain-raiser, a junior match will be played between Star juniors and the New Plymouth High School, starting at 1.15 p.m. OKATO v. STRATFORD. j The first round of the senior competition will be concluded on Saturday. The j match set down to be played in N ew Plymouth is between Stratford and Okato. Owing to the short time that elapses between the arrival and departure of the trains, the Stratford Club is unable to make the trip to Okato, so the coastal team has agreed to' play the match in New Plymouth. Stratford are at present running second in the competition, whereas Okato are leading for the Side Cup. The coastal team has greatly improved of late, and can he depended on to put up a good fight, so that a good game should result.
