HURWORTH. (From Our Own Correspondent). Thoso who faced the weather—which was not worse than usual—on Thursday evening spent a really enjoyable tim« at tlio farewell social tendered to Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie hy residents of the district. As mentioned in previous wotej(, Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie are milking their home, in New Plymouth. Mr. Beauchamp, in presenting Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie with a handsome set of carver*, beautifully encased, said they could never hope to repay Mrs. Ritehie for what she had done, but could, not let her leave the district without in somo small way showing their appreciation ol her kindness and willingness to assist at any function or social gathering. Mr. Ritchie replied in suitable terms. Incidentally, he mentioned that any Hurwortli friends would find a little left on the joint if they ever happened along their way. Musical Hems were contributed during the evming. by the following:—Pianoforte solo, "The Rosary," Miss Mrydon; song, "Father O'Flynn," Mr Ritchie; song, "T*f Shin I Love./. Mr. R. Loighton; song. "Ben Bolt," Mr. R. Marsh. The dance music was" supplied by Mesdames Marsh, Ritchie and Gilbert," Misses Brydon and Rojlinson, and Messrs Eggleton and Marsh', with | Mr. Beauehamp in tlhocapaeity of M.O.
