DROWNED FROM HORSEBACK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, June 9. Arthur Mann, aged, 26 years, was drowned at Riverhead. He was crossing « river on horse-back when the animal slipped into a deep pool, from which Mann's body was recovered half-an-hour later. FOUND DROWNED. Greymouth, June 9. News was received this morning that H. Linklater, manager of the Hochstetter Company, was found drowned at Riverview in the Ohoura district. KILLED BY A TRUCK. Invercargill, June 9. John Lucas, employed at the Ocean Beach Freezing Works, fell in front of a moving.truck and the wheels passed over his legs, necessitating amputation. died in hospital this morning. Dewas a married man and leaves a widow and family. ACCIDENT AT THE WHARF. A somewhat serious accident occurred at the wharf yesterday morning soon after the unloading of the Walkure was commenced. A well-known resident named W. H. Fitzpatrick was working in one of the hatches, and a loaded sling had just been swung when one of the guy ropes parted, the load dropping and knocking the unfortunate man against the coaming of the hatch. It was at iOftce seen that Mr. Fitzpatrick was seriously injured, and medical aid was promptly summoned. Ho was found to have sustained a broken leg, and, it is feared, serious internal injuries. He wag removed to the hospital, where on enquiry last night it was ascertained that his condition was serious. Mr. fitzpatrick is a popular resident of the tow*, and much sympathy is felt for him.
