OMATA. (From Our Own Carre.pondent.) The only topic of conversation here is the weather, of which everybody is complaining. It in of course petting CTerything back, -as it is almost impossible to get any outside work done. The cows have dried oIT rapidly, and the supply of milk is very low. On t-ae 2Sth ultimo, the bachelors bore gave a ball, which was an outstanding success. Apart from the local people, there was a goodly number of visitors from town. A most delightful evening was spent, ar.d a.s is usual here, for visitors can always count 011 a good floor, a good supper and good music, but this time these were <-\tra good.Mrs Woods' orchestra supplied the musie, and extras were kindly contributed bv Mosdam.es Were and Hooker (2), and Misses Itrooker and Mace, The decorations were very tastefully arranged by Mr F. ITutehens, assisted by Miss 0. Penwarden. The bachelors desire (o lliank the following persons for help in many ways: Mesdamcs Penwarden. Clemow, ITooker, Anstis, Bayly, Miss 8. Penwarden, and Messrs J. Hone? Arid and D. Peinvarden. Prominent members of the hard-working committee were Messrs O. Anstis. McKie, 0. (,'atton, P. Mare, A. Rajiv and E. A»«ti<; M.C.'s Messrs P. Mace and A. Thiyly. A euchre party was held 011 (he 3rd i 11st., and was well attended. Mrs 11. I"). Hooker won the lady's prize, and Mr B. Mace the gentleman's. ].',,r the dance, Mr .1. Revel! ably presided at Hie piano.
