THE WINTER SHOW.
OPENS NEXT WEDNESDAY'. The secretary of the Taranaki Agricultural Society, assisted by a large staff, has bad a very busy time during- the past few days receiving and tabulating entries for the Winter Show, -which opens in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday next, and continues until Saturday evening. Over 2000 entries have been received for all classes. The general classes have filled remarkably well, accounting for over J4OO entries. In the poultry section about 500 birds have been entered by the best-known breeders from all parts of the North Island. There will be a district court exhibit and | a general collection from one farm, also l a Maori exhibit, which, it will be remembered, wa 3 one of the features of last year's show. The entries for the fancy work exhibits are far beyond anything yet received by the Society, and in themselves will prove an irresistible attraction to the members of the fair sex. Record entries have been received for home industries. The root crop classes have also tilled 'well, so that the exhibition should be an object iesson to the farming community, as showing what cultivation and fertilisation will do. The applications for space have been so numerous that the space committee are at their wits' end to provide .sufficient accommodation. Steps', however, are being taken to overcome this dillicnH.y, and patrons can rest assured that tneir exhibits will be done justice to.
