THE MAITLAND IMPASSE, miners insist on abolition ok SHIFT. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright Received 3, 11 p.m. Sydney, June 3. The position at .Maitland is unchanged. A conference of colliery proprietors will lie held on Friday to consider the question of the afternoon shift. A conference of representatives of the c;oal miners state to-day that they have decided to deputiltionisc the Minister {or I Mines with a view to the amendment ,of the Mining Act. The statement was j made that the miners are determined to j secure the abolition of the afternoon shift. Tlie Victorian Coal Miners' Association -lias promised assistance in this direction.
