PUKEKURA PARK BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Piikekura Park Board lasit nigilft there were prejiont: Messrs R. Oock (chairman), W. L. Newman, R. 0. Ilughes and 0. 11. Drew (secretary).

CURATOR'S REPORT. The curator (Mr W. W. Smith) i;epoiitcd that the first week of the, month wns devoted to trimming the lower 'branch «s of lihe larger trees after the storm. .Several' of the younger trees in the more exposed paiits required tobe act up and fastened in by ramming fresh soil around the stems- and roots. The trimming of the. fern treesi required several days. Except two days spent in planting and' 'two in mowing' rough grass and grubbing gorse the remainder of the month was spent in cleaning up and burning rubbish. There were two pieces of work still on the board's hands which had been delayeil for 2% years, namely, cleaning, remodelling, ami planting the -rough swamp at the entranco !to Hie park, and ai.so tile head of the water lily lake. The ru-ahes in tho latter would have to be removed, > and by cutting back the waterfall side j of the lake, (utilising Ithe spoil for filling ' lip the old unsightly flsK races) and planting the hanks of the lake with ferns a great improvement would be effected. When commencing the work on j the swamp, it would first be necessary j to drain it thoroughly, wflion its- conj formation would lie more dearly seen. , Some thin planking was required to | mend a number of steps.

It w.n decided to instruct Ithe curator to proceed with the improvements as suggested.

GENERAL. The town clerk of New Plyiwonth wrote offering two cubic yards o! asphalt at £1 10s per yard* The town ct'erk notified that the sunsidy to the board and its'share of revenue from reserves for thr snsuing year would be £l5O.
