A euchre party and dance, held in the PuMiioi acdiool on Friday, 22nd jinst., was a great success, both financially and otherwise, the room baing filled Ito overflowing!. Although it w;w a very cold wgWt, all residents of tliio "distaiclfc were present, besides a great number lof people from Tarata and Pu*angS, The 'ladies' prize was won by Mrs. Win. Drake, after 'havingi to play off wi'tih M'iss M. Pateraon The gentlemen'a prize fell to Mr Sydney Poynter after a hard fight 'with Mr. Hall. Jlr. H. Lambert, chairman of the school oommliittee, then presented' the prizes to the winners, who smiled a smile of appreciation in having Soanc(thing warm and cosy for tho winter evenings The chairman then thanked those present for venturing out on such a cold and frosty night, and explained that the BchoioK comlmititee taiciuM' 'holding a filories of euchre parties during the winter mOntflis, to take place every three weeks, in aid of a piano for folic sohocfl. A spJ'endiA enippeir was then handed round, and dancing was indulged in till 3 aju. Mr. S. Mr. Bullock has sold his property. I hear Mr. and! Mrs. Bullock intend visiting Roltoruia before settling in Wanganui. Mr Bandit, of Uurangi, has also disposed of his property.
RAHOTU. A "lazy stick" contest for £5 a-sido took placo in the hall one evening tlifis week between Messrs 11. Hopkins and S. Jones. The contest was witnessed by about sixty spectators.'
