THE OTAHUHU FATALITY.
DEATH OF THE SECOND VICTIM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. The child Dorothy Aukett, who wan ljured by the railway accident at Otauhu, which caused the death of her randmothcr, died in hospital to-day. The Auckland Star reports that a ad incident in connection with the ffair is that the mother of the child /as away at the time and did not learn if the accident until next morning, rhen she arrived 011 the Main Trunk express. It was at first thought that he was aboard the train at the time if the accident, as a lady was seen to lave fainted at the sig'ht of the aceilent, and for a time it was thought hat the lady was tho child's mother. ?he mother is only twenty-one years of ,ge and she was in a piteous condition vhen she learned of her bereavement. The father of the child is a porter it the Ota'hulm station, but was not in duty at tho time of the accident, le learned of the affair shortly aftervards, and hastily proceeded to the Vuckland hospital, only to find that -his nother was dead and the child dying, lis distress was pitiable in the extreme, mtl he was almost distracted at not icing able to find his wife.
