Fire destroyed the Fort Stm t Union Railway Station at Detroit, 47 passengers, firemen and policemen narrowly escaping death. ■ijpfcThe dense smoke overwhelmed a score of immigrants locked in the basement. Firemen and police entered trying to rescue them and dragged them into tlie open air. It is expected that ill will recover. Valuable railway records were burned.
